Raines Gives Ravens Boost Amidst Winning Streak

The Benedictine Ravens' women's basketball team is on a five-game winning streak, and Raines has contributed quality minutes in that stretch.

The former Jefferson West Tiger scored 16 points on 8-for-12 shooting in their 62-61 victory at nationally ranked #4 Clarke (IA) in 29 minutes of playing time. Benedictine handed them their first loss of the regular season.

Aaliyah is currently fourth on the team in scoring averaging 8.9 points per game and second on the team in minutes with 25 per game. She has been efficient in her playing time with 39.9% of field goal attempts going through the net, and a solid 75.5% free throw percentage.

Since the beginning of December, the Ravens have won 11 of their last 13 games. They are now 15-6 overall and 13-4 in Heart of America Conference play which puts them in third place.

Before her time with the Ravens, Aaliyah led Jefferson West to a 19-4 record and Sub-State Championship her senior season averaging over 19 points, six rebounds, and four steals per game.

She was a three-time First Team All-Big 7 League performer and was also named two-time All-State. Aaliyah set Jefferson West school records with 1,158 points and 303 steals.
