Holton Hosts Big Seven League Track Quad -- Results

Track season has begun for pretty much all area schools now with many partaking in meets yesterday (April 2nd) and the Big Seven got underway with a pair of quad meets.

Holton played host to one of the quads which involved Perry Lecompton, Santa Fe Trail and Nemaha Valley.

All four schools involved earned at least five combined first place finishes on the day between the girls and boys squads. The host's, Holton Wildcats earned the most first place finishes with a total of 14, with the girls accounting for nine and the boys for five. Nemaha Valley Raiders grabbed the second most first place finishes on the day with 10 total, five at the hands of the girls and five from the boys. Perry Lecompton earned the third most first place finishers with seven and Santa Fe Trail had combined five first place finishes.

In the girls competition it was the lady Wildcats taking home seven first place finishes highlighting the day with Brylee New and Connor Strader both capturing multi-event titles. New darted her way to wins in the 100 and 300 meter dashes with times of 13.43 and 28.22, while Strader won the 400 meter dash and 800 meter run posting times of 1:02.84 and 2:33.54. Holton's lone other win in the track events came in the 4x400 meter relay posting a time of 4:26.41, over five seconds better than second place. Wildcats also took home four field event titles with Keri Tanking leading the charge as she leapt to wins in the high jump and long jump, with jumps of 4-10 and 14-02. Hannah Suarez made it a sweep for the Wildcats in the leaping events as she won the triple jump with a leap of 31-01, while Kyrstie Miller rounded out the day for the lady Wildcats winning the shot put with a toss of 34-06.

The lady Raiders of Nemaha Valley took home five event titles; three in field events the other two in running events. The Raiders took two of three throwing competitions winning the discus throw and javelin throw with tosses from Michaela Stallbaumer and Shaylyn Stallbaumer, respectively. Michaela won the discus with a toss of 97-09.50 and Shaylyn won the javelin with a toss of 126-06.50, over 26 feet better than second place. Jaci Swart, also took home a field event first place for the Raiders as she vaulted her way to the pole vault crown with a vault of 8-00.25. In the running events, Rachael Baumgartner won the 300 meter hurdles, while Ashely Rottinghaus won the 1600 meter run. Baumgartner hurdled her way to a time of 50.97 to win the 300 meter hurdles, while Rottinghaus paced her way to the win in the 1600 with a time of 5:52.97.

Both Perry Lecompton and Santa Fe Trail each had a pair of first place finishers on the girls side for the days action. For the Kaws the won the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 54.94, while Jordan Erickson won the 100 meter hurdles with a time fo 17.16. For the Chargers they won the 4x800 meter relay with a time of 11:10.15 and Devin DeShazer won the 3200 meter run for the Chargers with a time of 13:15.60.

On the boys side Holton, Nemaha Valley and Perry Lecompton each had five first place finishers on the day, while Santa Fe Trail had three.

For the Wildcats they were highlighted by a sweep in the hurdles by Jaxon Wright who won both the 110 and 300 meter hurdles with times of 15.43 and 42.35. Holton's, Drake Ewing also took home a running event crown winning the 100 meter dash, spiriting to a time of 11.53. Cameron Karn and Alex Coder both won field events for the Wildcats as Karn leapt his way to the win in the triple jump and Coder tossed his way to a win in the discus throw. Karn posted a leap of 41-05 to nab the triple jump title and Coder won the discus on a toss of 117-09.50.

The Raiders of Nemaha Valley were lead many different individuals winning events with three of their five first place finishes coming in the fieldl events. Story Feldkamp took home the shot put crown for the Raiders tossing his way to the title with a throw of 45-02, while Mitchell Baumgartner and Brad Boeckman each won field events for the Raiders. Baumgartner took home the pole vault title with a vault of 10-06, while Boeckman won the high jump with a leap of 5-10. Colin Lierz dashed his way to the 800 meter dash crown registering a time of 2:08.25, while the Raiders 4x800 meter relay team won the relay behind a time of 9:47.27.

Perry Lecompton also registered five first place finishes their's coming mostly in the running events. The Kaws took home wins in the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relays with times of 45.25 and 3:38.94, while Cody Williams won the 200 meter dash (24.19) and Colin Coleman won the 400 meter dash (52.66). The Kaws other event title was won in the field events with Matt Logan winning the javelin throw title with a toss of 154-01.

For Santa Fe Trail the Chargers earned first place finishes in the 1600 meter run, 3200 meter run and long jump. Dawson Colgalzier took the 1600 title with a time of 5:01.89, while his teammate Dallas Gloss won the 3200 with a time of 11:02.19. T.J. Kremble won the long jump, also for the Chargers with a leap of 20-04.
