Three area teams competed this past Saturday at the Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer volleyball invite in Humboldt. The HTRS Titans would come away on top of their home invite winning all three games of the day. Other area teams competing included Falls City Sacred Heart and Pawnee City.
The Titans swept two of their matches while winning the third 2 sets to 1. They swept Lewiston 25-13, 25-17 and Pawnee City 25-18, 25-20. In their game versus the Irish, it was Falls City Sacred Heart who would come out swinging winning the first set 25-17. However, the Titans would win the final two sets 25-22, 25-23 to claim the crown. HTRS improves their record to 7-4 on the season.
Falls City Sacred Heart went 2-1 on the day with the only loss coming in the previously mentioned HTRS game. The Irish swept Dorchester 25-13, 25-14 and Lewiston 25-11, 25-14 for their two wins. After starting the year 2-6, they improved to 4-7 on the season.
Pawnee City also went 2-1 on the day with their only loss coming in the HTRS game. In their match against Southern, the Indians won the first set 25-15 before dropping set two 25-23. In set three, it was all Pawnee City though winning 25-14. In their match against Dorchester, the Longhorns came out swinging, winning the first set 25-18. However the Indians would battle back, and eventually settle in, winning the next two sets 25-23, 25-19.
All three teams will be in action at the MUDECAS tournament in Beatrice, Nebraska this week. The long standing tournament plays host to many area teams during the volleyball and basketball tournaments.
