8M-ll District three takes flight in week number four of the regular season with the 3-0 Frankfort Wildcats going on the road to take on the 3-0 Hanover Wildcats. Frankfort was ranked number two in 8M-ll averaging 72.1 points per game and Hanover entered the night ranked 5th with 45 points per game. However, despite rankings, Hanover took an impressive 28-22 win over Frankfort.

Frankfort won the toss and elected to receive the ball in the first half, unfortunately for the Frankfort Wildcats, they stalled on back-to-back three-and-outs, with their first three drives ending in punts. But on the other side of the field, the Hanover Wildcats started the scoring on their second drive with a one-play 50-yard touchdown pass from junior Rieken Stallbaumer to junior Braylon Meyn. Hanover after forcing another punt scored again, scoring 16-0 with a 10-yard run from sophomore Kadrick Cohorst.

The Frankfort Wildcats touched the scoreboard for the first time in the second quarter in their fourth possession, it was a 1-yard rushing touchdown from senior Lane Loiseau. Frankfort did not convert the two-point conversion and was trailing 16-6 in the second quarter, but before the quarter’s end, Kadrick Cohorst added himself another touchdown run with a quarterback sneak from one yard out, making the score 22-6. Frankfort scored on their next drive as well however in response and managed to convert the two-point conversation to make it a 22-14 game going into the half, the touchdown was a 15-yard touchdown pass from Wes Anderson to Lane Loiseau.

The third quarter was a defensive quarter with the only points being taken being a safety against Hanover to make the 22-16, on the safety quarterback Rieken Stallbaumer had to unfortunately step out for the rest of the game, finishing the game with over 130+ passing yards and a touchdown. Hanover also had an interception before the safety, which Frankfort did not manage to get much out of with a three-and-out. The play of the quarter came at the cost of the safety for Hanover but they recovered the ball back after a fumble on the free kick.

Both teams exchanged touchdowns in the fourth quarter, but first, it was Frankfort with Lane Loiseau scoring the team’s last and his third but last touchdown to even the score 22-22, Frankfort failed the two-point conversion. Hanover responded with a touchdown drive of their own, starting from their 23-yard line. The drive from Hanover lasted over five minutes, as they only left Frankfort with less than twenty seconds to try to go down and score. The Hanover touchdown to finalize the score of 28-22 was a 7-yard pass touchdown from Kadrick Cohorst to Cameron Jueneman. Frankfort couldn’t respond with less than twenty seconds to start their final drive, the game ended with a failed hook-and-ladder.

Hanover took down a top opponent and even snapped a two-game losing streak to Frankfort. The player of the game was given to Sophmore Kadrick Cohorst, who again had three touchdowns and major game-deciding plays, including a huge 4th and five-to-go reception to keep a late-game drive alive.

Frankfort will slide to 1-1 in the TVL and take their first loss in district play, and Hanover will snag their first win in district play and their third win in the league, making them now 3-0, 4-0 overall. Frankfort will look to bounce back next week by hosting Thunder Ridge, and Hanover will seek to keep rolling as they travel next week to Blue Valley-Randolph.
