The Nemaha Central Thunder evened their record at 1-1 on the season with a convincing 35-7 win at Silver Lake on Friday night, in a battle of 2 state ranked teams in class 2A, thanks to a big evening from QB Carter Hajek who ran for 175 yards and 3 touchdowns and threw for 145 yards and 2 scores.

Hajek scored on a 29 yard jaunt in the 1st quarter and then on a 3rd and 10 late in the 2nd quarter, Hajek hit Caleb Strathman on a deep seam route for a 74 yard score which gave the Thunder a 14-0 lead.

Silver Lake responded quickly with a 6 play 78 yard drive as Brody Dieter hauled in a 39 yard td pass from Dysen Schooler with :24 remaining in the 1st half.

The Eagles received the 2nd half kickoff, but fumbled on the return and on the very next play Hajek burst through the line of scrimmage for a 31 yard score to put the Thunder up 21-7.

Nemaha Central added two more touchdowns on a 40 yard strike from Hajek to Sam Nordhus and a Hajek 3 yard run to give the Thunder a 35-7 victory.

The Thunder outscored Silver Lake 21-0 in the 2nd half and outgained the Eagles 345-179 on the night.

Both teams are now 1-1 on the season.  Nemaha Central will be back home next Friday to host Rossville while Silver Lake has their 1st game of the season as they head to Perry-Lecompton.
