The 2022 Shrine Bowl was played on Saturday in Pittsburg and the game ended in a 10-10 tie.

Local athletes that played in the Shrine Bowl this year included Nemaha Central's Zac Kramer, Trent Spiker of Doniphan West, Centralia's Treydon Talley, Andrew Williams of Holton, and Ryan Feldkamp of Jefferson County North.

JCN Head Coach Jeff Schneider was part of the East coaching staff.

The lone touchdown scored by the West was in the first quarter as Sedgwick quarterback Lance Hoffsommer busted a 10-yard touchdown run after an interception set them up deep in East territory.

The East was able to get on the board in the third quarter as Basehor-Linwood's Zack Sisemore ran in a touchdown from seven yards out.

The West tied the game at the end of regulation as they nailed 29-yard field goal with under 25 seconds left and that decided the 10-10 tie.

Shawnee Mission Northwest quarterback Blake Reeder was named the East MVP while Cimarron defensive back Braxton Harrison was named the West MVP.

The last time the Shrine Bowl ended in a tie was back in 2001 when it finished in a 12-12 final. It's just the second time in the last 49 years that the Shrine Bowl ended in a tie.
