Gatzemeyer and Valley Falls Leads Area Selections for All-State Baseball Teams

The Kansas Association of Baseball Coaches have released its All-State teams for the 2022 season. 

Plenty of area athletes across the board this season but Valley Falls led the way in selections in Class 2-1A following their 3rd place finish at State in Great Bend. 

The Dragons were led by Avery Gatzemeyer who was named Co-Pitcher of the Year along with Nate Bowman of Bucklin. Gatzemeyer was also First Team All-State as a pitcher as well. 

Gatzemeyer is joined on the First Team by teammate Brennen Miller as he was selected as an outfielder. 

Second Team selections for the Dragons included Trenton Kraxner as a pitcher and Dylan Cervantez at third base. Carson Clark was also selected Honorable Mention as an outfielder. 

Other area athletes scattered across 2-1 as Maur Hill-Mount Academy landed two selections with Parrish Beagle as a First Team pitcher and Drew Caudle as a Second Team outfielder. 

Onaga also tallied two to the list with Colby Simkins as the Second Team catcher and Zac Fisher as Honorable Mention at third base. 

Royal Valley's Brady Klotz was named First Team in Class 3A as a utility player as he helped lead the Panthers to the Big 7 League Title. 

Evan Gottstein of Perry Lecompton was named to the Second Team as a pitcher. 

Honorable Mention selections in Class 3A included Preston Golden of Royal Valley as a pitcher, Devin Watkins of Jefferson West as a pitcher, Braden Uphaus of Nemaha Central as an infielder, and Ashton Rockey of Hiawatha as an outfielder. 

Rounding out the area selections were in Class 4A as Atchison posted two players on the Honorable Mention team. Jeter Purdy as a pitcher and Boston Bruce as an infielder.
