On a windy afternoon Monday the Holton Lady Cat softball team improved to 16-0 on the season with a sweep of Hiawatha on the road.

Game 1

In game one behind a dominant performance in the center circle by Gracie Gallagher and costly Hiawatha errors, Holton rolled to a 12-0 victory in five innings.

The Cats jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning on a solo home run by Sadie Walker on the first pitch of the game along with an RBI-single from Olivia Summers.

Holton plated four more runs in the second on just one hit taking advantage of three Hiawatha errors with RBIs from Gallagher and Grace Utz.

Olivia Summers added a two RBI-double in the fourth while in the fifth Staci Bond drove in a run while Gallagher chipped in another.

Gallagher on the mound was dominant tossing all five innings allowing just two hits and two total base runners while striking out 12 and walking none.

Walker finished a single shy of the cycle and scored four runs while Brooke Flewelling was on base four times and scored three times along with Summers collecting three RBI.

Game 2

Game two was a similar story with Brooke Flewelling leading the charge in a 19-2 victory as she collected four hits, three doubles, a home run and six RBI.

Gallagher added four hits while Walker and Emma Summers each added three while Walker had three RBI.

In the four inning victory Walker threw all four innings allowing just two hits and two runs while striking out six.

Hiawatha’s only offense came from Laikyn Leupold who drilled a two-run home run.
