The Valley Heights football team entered Friday night’s district game against Jackson Heights with only 11 available players after the junior varsity team was placed under quarantine.

It did not phase the Mustangs at all as they dominated in a 56-15 victory behind a huge night from fullback Jake Yungeberg.

After Trenton L’Ecuyer got the Mustangs off to a great start with a pair of long touchdown runs early, Yungeberg was the closer scoring three touchdowns in the second half and four touchdowns total.

He finished with 84 yards on 17 carries and those four scores and on the season has now run for over 600 yards and 12 touchdowns on the season.

He is averaging just shy of 10 yards per carry and is averaging around 87 yards per game on the ground.

Yungeberg also leads the team in tackles with over 50, while recording two tackles for loss, one interception, one fumble recovery and one defensive touchdown on the season.

He has helped the Mustangs to a 6-1 start with the only loss coming to Centralia three weeks ago.

Yungeberg will look to lead Valley Heights to a second place finish in district two as the Mustangs will look wrap that up on the road at Northern Heights on Friday.
