Dodge City KS,

Giant Communications and JCN Telephone Company ROAD TO GLORY presented by Giant Mobile on the MSC Sports Radio Network.

1A D1 Boys Quarterfinal - 4 Central Plains 54 #5 Frankfort 44

It was a hot start for the Wildcats, led by sharp-shooting Junior Wes Anderson as Frankfort jumped out early leading 13-3 at the end of the first frame. The Oilers would not be phased however, going on a seventeen to three run in the second as they dominated the quarter outscoring the 'Cats 19-6 to take a halftime lead of 22-19.

After halftime adjustments, the third stanza saw both teams find some rhythm offensively, but Central Plains would grow their lead to six headed to the fourth, leading 35-29. In this final period, the Oilers would extend their lead to as many as ten before Frankfort would make an impressive 13-3 run towards the latter part of the quarter to grab their first lead since the beginning of the second. The 'Cats led by four with just over two minutes to go in regulation when things went stagnant offensively and the Oilers did just enough to tie the game up at 44 with just :45 left in regulation.

Frankfort would wind down the clock to just :12 left before Head Coach Adam Schreiner would call a time-out to set up a potential game winning set. Unfortunately for the Wildcats, they would turn the ball over with :06 left on the clock and give the Oilers a chance. Frankfort's defense stiffened to force overtime, but Central Plains had drawn new life and would not waste the opportunity.

The overtime period was all Central Plains, outscoring Frankfort 10-0 to claim their spot in the semi-finals on Friday.

Frankfort was at the state tournament for the first time since 2020 and finished off a season that some would say was unexpected. For this group, and second year coach Schreiner, they expected it and made it count.

Five seniors will depart for Frankfort in Lane Loiseau, Carter Olson, Tyler Smith, Chase Stallbaumer and Channing Farrar. The foundation is set for the future with three major contributors coming back next year. Anderson, Fred Rosquist, and Porter Colvin all played huge roles in this state tournament team and will look to make a push again next year as seniors.

Frankfort was led in scoring by non-other than Anderson who finished with a team high 22 points and five assists while nailing six three pointers. Smith also was in double figures with 12 while Loiseau finished with seven and Rosquist tallied two points and eleven boards.
