The Centralia Boys yesterday managed to handle and take down a tough and challenging Frankfort Boys team that came off a dominant win over Washington County on Saturday, where they hit nine threes. Then right after the Boys were finished, the Centralia Girls came onto the court to put on a beating on Axtell after having a slow start.

Boys - Centralia over Frankfort 54-47

A tight race began as Centralia and Frankfort's boys took head-on in the first quarter, with just a few minutes left in the quarter the game would be tied at 10-10 before Centralia would go on to score eight straight before the quarter’s end. Aiden Talley and Henry Heidenman would both hit threes for Centralia in the opening quarter while Frankfort wouldn’t hit any.

Frankfort out-scored the Panthers in the second quarter 14-8 to make it 26-24 going into halftime, Centralia still leading ahead. In the second quarter, the Wildcats managed to find the three-point shot with both Tyler Smith and Carter Olsen hitting one from deep.

The Panthers out-scored the Wildcats in the third quarter just 12-11 to make it a tight 38-35 heading into the final quarter of the game. It was a huge quarter for Centralia’s senior Ben Haverkamp as he had six points in the quarter alone.

The Panthers would flee away with the final tally of 54-47 by out-pacing the Wildcats in the final quarter of play. The young and talented sophomore Quentin Alderfer had had a quiet night up to this point with just three points but exploded in the fourth quarter with eight points, going four-for-four from the free-throw line.

Duke Timmel would lead the night in scoring for the Panthers with his thirteen points and nine rebounds. Ben Haverkamp would finish with twelve points and Quentin Alderfer would end with eleven. Wes Anderson would lead Frankfort with eleven points and five boards while Carter Olson would end with eight points with two threes (STATS NOT APPROXIMATE).

Girls - Centralia over Axtell 61-34

The first quarter was the only one in this game where we got to see two lead changes, one for Axtell to go up 8-7, and then the Panthers for the rest of the game. Centralia exited the first quarter just leading 14-10.

Lady Panthers would go on to out-score the Lady Eagles 24-7 in the second quarter to head into a 38-17 halftime. Oen Deters finished with twenty points alone in the first half, with fifteen of her points being off of three-pointers. The freshman Maggie Strathman for the Eagles did have a really impressive first half with four points and eight rebounds.

Axtell would manage to out-score Centralia in the third quarter 14-8 to trail into the fourth quarter just 46-31. However, Centralia did not go easy with the final quarter as they would score fifteen in the final eight minutes of play while Axtell would be held to just three. The game ended 61-34 and Oen Deters would finish with twenty-seven points and nine rebounds in the game to lead Centralia. Josie Haverkamp would be the next closest scorer in points with ten. Freshman Regan Hasenkemp would lead Axtell with nine points scored (STATS NOT APPROXIMATE).
