The Royal Valley girls and Sabetha boys earned Friday night wins as it was both teams' final games of the 2024 portion of the schedule.
Girls: Royal Valley 47, Sabetha 34
Royal Valley dominated the first half and that was enough to come away with the win.
The Panthers (4-1, 1-1) jumped out to a 16-7 lead at the end of the first quarter and increased that margin to 30-13 at halftime. Royal Valley had a lead as high as 21 during that stretch in the first half.
The Bluejays (0-5, 0-2) would play a much better second half outscoring the Panthers 21-17 but the deficit in the first half was too much to overcome.
Panno Wahwassuck led Royal Valley with a game-high of 20 points. Athena Broaddus added 14 points and Samantha Klotz pitched in with a double-double of 11 points and 13 rebounds.
Paxton Michael led the Bluejays with 10 points and six rebounds while Audrey Herrmann added eight points and six rebounds.
Boys: Royal Valley 34, Sabetha 53
The Bluejays would pull away from the Panthers in the second half to hit the holiday break with some momentum.
Royal Valley (2-3, 0-2) led the game 8-7 after the end of the first quarter but the Bluejays (3-2, 2-0) would have the 20-17 lead at halftime.
Sabetha would dominate the third quarter outscoring Royal Valley 21-10 with LT Thomas doing a bulk of the scoring in the quarter for Sabetha. Thomas would finish with a game-high 18 points.
Brody Deters added nine points and four rebounds for the Bluejays while Tyse Frazee finished with seven points.
Royal Valley was led by Matt Buskirk who finished the game with 11 points while Trystan Murata and Landon Gilbert each pitched in with seven points.
