It was a high scoring night of basketball and a close girls game as the Troy Trojans completed a sweep of visiting Onaga on Tuesday night in the Twin Valley League.

GIRLS = Troy 59, Onaga 55

It took the Troy girls about four and a half minutes to get their first points of the game, but used a couple treys to take a 13-7 advantage and never give up the lead. The Trojans biggest margin was 26-13 with just over three minutes left in the half before Onaga used a 7-0 run to close the second quarter. The Buffaloes pulled within 40-38 in the third frame and tied the score at 47, but missed a free throw to take the lead and Troy answered with a pair of baskets by freshman Paityn Engemann to pull away for the win.

Both teams came in averaging less than 30 points per game but executed very well on the offensive end.  Troy made eight three-pointers in the game and went 11 of 16 from the free throw line while having four players score in double-figures. Engemann and Avery Euler each scored 13 while Macy Norris and Reagen Hill added 10 apiece and Sidney Fleek chipped in eight in the Trojan's highest scoring contest of the season. Troy improved to 2-5 on the season with their first victory in the TVL.

Kenzie Schwartz was saddled with three fouls in the first half but then exploded with 14 points in the third quarter to bring Onaga back and finished with a game high 20 points.  Rebecca Krohn scored nine of her 14 in the first half but also half three fouls at the break.  Laura Krohn added nine points before Onaga fell to 1-8 on the year.

BOYS = Troy 71, Onaga 38

Behind a 23-7 first quarter that included a 10-0 run and forcing 29 total turnovers, the Troy boys built a 37-11 halftime lead and forced a running clock in the fourth quarter in a battle of teams looking for their first win of the season.

Griffin Weber scored 11 of his 18 points in the first quarter and set the tone for a solid defensive night for the Trojans with several steals and deflections.  Jerrit Norris was dominant inside with 18 points and more than 12 rebounds while also blocking a handful of shots.  Camden Anderson added 12 points and Tate Smith finished with nine as Troy improved to 1-6 on the year in their highest scoring game.

Onaga had not scored more than 28 points in any contest this year and put up 16 in the third period alone, but could not dig out of the early hole and struggled taking care of the basketball. Jason Abitz scored 11 points while Caleb Dern added 10 and Zac Fisher scored all seven of his points in the second half before the Buffs fell to 0-9 on the campaign.
