Falls City Boys & Auburn Girls Win Falls City Track Invite

Track season continued on Tuesday at Falls City hosted four other Nebraska schools and one Northeast Kansas school. 

Falls City boys earned first place as a team with 182 total points, while Johnson County Central took second with 160 points. Auburn, Southern, Horton and Nebraska City finished out the boys team standings in third through sixth place. On the girls side Auburn totaled 190 points to take first place, while Johnson County Central earned second place. Falls City, Southern, Nebraska City and Horton finished out the team standings in third through sixth place. 

On the way to first place as a team the Falls City Tiger boys won nine events with six wins coming in the field events. Ben Bauman tossed his way to first place in the discus (142'09) and shot put (47'05), while Emmet Kirkendall won the high jump (5'08) and Cole Kirkendall took first in the pole vault (9'06.01). Also, Zayne Heckenlively placed first in the long jump (21'10.50) and Jessi Dean earned the gold in the triple jump (41'00). On the track Rudy Vrtiska swept the hurdles crowns winning the 110 (15.87) and 300 (41.21) meter hurdles, while the Tiger boys 1600 meter relay team took first (3:50.77). The lady Tigers earned first in the 400 meter relay (55.37), while Bailey Gilkerson won the discus (85'10). 

The Auburn girls used eight individual event wins to earn first place as a team. Both Theresa Nichols and Allie Binder each won a pair of events. Nichols swept the hurdles 100 (16.33) and 300 (50.39) hurdles, while Binder raced her way to first in the 1600 (5:35.16) and 3200 (12:18.55) meter runs. The 3200 (10:46.75) and 1600 (4:28.61) relay teams also took first place for the lady Bulldogs. In the field events Meg Rieschick won the long jump (15'09.50) and Theresa Frary earned first in the triple jump (32'01.50). Auburn boys had won event winner on the day as Drew Keller took first in the 800 meter run (2:19.41). 

Four double event winners on the day led Johnson County Central in action at the Falls City Invitational. Maddie Moran sprinted to the win in the girls 100 (12.57) and 200 (27.31) meter runs, while Aleisha McDonald earned first in the girls pole vault (9'00) and 800 (2:31.41) meter run. Hailey Clark also snagged a pair of first place finishes as she won the 400 (1:06.65) meter dash and won the high jump (4'10.02), while in the boys competition Sam Saldivar won the 1600 (4:48.79) and 3200 meter run (10:29). For the boys the 3200 meter relay team took first (9:37.62) and Michiel Jansen won the 400 meter dash (55.13). 

Horton Chargers best performance at the Falls City Invitational came from Daspin Bruning who won the girls shot put (34'09).
