One Area School & 13 Wrestlers Ranked in Latest KWCA Rankings - Jan. 12th

The high school wrestling season has heated back up since the holiday break is in the rear view mirror as many area wrestlers and their teams have hit the mats again. The latest Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association rankings have been released and one area school and 13 area individual grapplers are in the rankings. 

In class 3-2-1A 10 area wrestlers are in the latest KWCA rankings along with area team in the Top 10 teams. The Marysville Bulldog wrestling squad has been ranked multiple times this season as a team and is this week coming in at seventh in the Top 10 in 3-2-1A. Leading the way for Marysville is senior, Chris Deters who ranks number one at 132lbs, while three other Bulldogs are also ranked. Junior, Jacob Stryker checks in at fourth at 160lbs, while junior, Nick Ackerman ranks fifth at 182lbs and junior, Jacob Mintzmyer is ranked sixth at 170lbs. 

The Doniphan West Mustangs continue to have a pair of grapplers in the 3-2-1A rankings as seniors, Garret Dunlap and Kody Collins each remain ranked at 160lbs and 182lbs, respectively. Dunlap comes in at third at 160lbs in the latest polls, while Collins is sixth at 182lbs. 

Four more area wrestlers are in the 3-2-1A rankings and three of those are from the Big Seven League. ACCHS Tiger junior, Hunter Ostertag has been ranked all year and in the latest KWCA rankings is second at 132lbs, while Riverside Cyclone sophomore, Scott Resler comes in a fourth at 138lbs and Sabetha Bluejay sophomore, Seth Harrell is sixth at 126lbs. Pleasant Ridge Ram senior, Dustin Graham is also in the rankings as he checks in at sixth at 195lbs in class 3-2-1A.

Class 4A continues to house a few Holton Wildcat wrestlers in the rankings as three Wildcats are all ranked third in their respective weight classes. Seniors, Justin Pool and Justin Rieschick are each third at 138lbs and 145lbs, respectively, while junior, Tyler Price is third at 152lbs in class 4A. 

The wrestling rolls along with a few area teams in action Thursday night on the mats and more in tournament action on Saturday.
