Nine Area Teams in the KVA Volleyball Rankings after Week 6

The volleyball season has hits final strides of the regular season with only a few tournaments and matches remaining for the area teams before the focus shifts to postseason action. The Kansas Volleyball Association as released its new rankings and nine area teams are in the rankings this week. 

Four teams from the Twin Valley League, three from the Northeast Kansas League and two from the Big Seven League are ranked this week. 

Both Centralia and Axtell continue to headline the rankings for the area teams as they each remain ranked second in their respective classifications of 1A-Division I and Division II. 

For Centralia they wrapped up a share of the TVL regular season title on Tuesday with a win over Doniphan West and also avenged their only loss of the season by beating Washington County to improve to 31-1 on the year and remain ranked second in Class 1A-DI, a spot they've held all year. The Hanover Wildcats remained ranked seventh this week with a 25-8 record, after splitting with Valley Heights (loss) and Linn (win) on Tuesday. The Immaculata Raiders out of the NEKL have been ranked most of the season in 1A-DI and remained in the rankings this week at ninth after splitting their matches on Tuesday, beating McLouth and falling to Valley Falls. 

The Axtell Eagles improved to 24-7 on the season with wins over Blue Valley and Wetmore on Tuesday and remain ranked second in Class 1A-DII, a spot they have held a majority of the season. Axtell finished as co-TVL regular season champs, but loss to Centralia in regular season so they will be the two seed in the TVL tournament on Saturday, while Centralia will be the one seed. 

Three area teams are in the rankings this week in Class 2A as both Valley Falls and Washington County remain in the rankings and Jefferson County North jumps in to the polls for the first time this season.  The Dragons sit at 31-3 on the season and rank sixth again this week in 2A after beating McLouth and Immaculata on Tuesday, clinching at least a share of the NEKL title. While, Washington County while remaining in the rankings fell three spots to tenth with their 20-9 record, going 2-1 in recent action on Tuesday falling to Centralia, but picking up wins over Doniphan West and Clifton-Clyde. The JCN Chargers jump in to the polls this week at eighth with their 22-8 record this year, after splitting on Tuesday against Maur Hill-Mount Academy (loss) and Jackson Heights (win). 

Nemaha Central Thunder wrapped up the Big Seven League regular season title with a pair of wins over Perry Lecompton on Tuesday, improving to 23-8 on the year but fell one spot in the Class 3A rankings this week to ninth. 

Holton Wildcats remained ranked tenth in Class 4A-DII as they check in at 21-10 on the season beating Royal Valley twice in their most recent action back on October 6th.
