Atchison Boys & Girls Take Third While Pleasant Ridge Girls & Boys Grab Fifth at Lansing Track Invite

Three area teams set out for competition in track and field on Tuesday participating in the Lansing Invitational.

The Atchison Redmen boys and girls both led the area team performances claiming third place each, while Pleasant Ridge boys and girls each finished fifth and Immaculata girls took seventh and the boys ninth of nine schools competing. Lansing won both the boys and girls team titles on the day.

All three schools did have at least one first place performance in between the boys and girls competition with Atchison leading the way with five first place showings.

Seth Heckle led the way for Atchison on the day claiming first in both the 110 meter hurdles (17.45) and the long jump (18'05), while Jerel Rawls earned first in the 400 meter dash behind a time of 52.30. In the girl's competition Emily Jaloma won the 300 meter hurdles (52.31) and Anna Shipley posted a vault of 7'00 to win gold in the pole vault. Ten other Top three finishes were earned by the Redmen in competition at the Lansing Invite. Imogene Bratton took the silver in the 100 meter dash, while Jaihlyn Bratton placed second in the high jump and third in the 400 meter dash, Sarah Jaloma took third in the 1600 meter run and Lindsay Anderson grabbed third in the discus. For the boys Justin Whitmer finished second in the 800 meter run, while Bret Huntington placed second in the 300 meter hurdles and third in the 110 meter hurdles, Matthew Sowers took third in the 3200 meter run and LaMarca Tolbert grabbed third place in the 100 meter dash.

Highlighting things for Pleasant Ridge was the lady relay teams as the team of Grace McKinney, Skylar Ling, Rebekahn Churchill and Mallory Wagner posted a time of 54.42 to win the 4x100 meter relay and the quartet of Kristina Silvers, Bridget Howard, Taylor Satre and Kayla Gilmore notched a time of 12:11.1+ to win the 4x800 meter relay. Jagar Haack also brought home gold for the Rams winning the boys shot put with a toss of 42'07.50. Eight more Top three finishes were earned by Pleasant Ridge including McKinney finishing second in the 200 meter dash and Howard taking third in the long jump. On the boys side Glen Smith took second in both the triple jump and javelin, while Colton Doty placed third in the shot put, Corbin Meyers took third in the triple jump, Nick Holmes registered third place in the long jump and the boy’s 4x800 meter relay team took third.

Immaculata was led by Sarah O'Neil won the 100 meter hurdles behind a time of 17.95, while taking third in the 300 meter hurdles. Jordan Sachse was the only other Raider to claim a Top three finish, placing third in the high jump and triple jump.
