Royal Valley Hosts Four Fellow Big Seven Schools for Track Action

Royal Valley played host on Tuesday night to four other Big Seven schools for League track and field action and all five teams saw individuals come away with top notch performances on the day.

The Jeff West girls and Holton boys came away with the track meet team titles as Jeff West finished first ahead of Royal Valley, Holton, ACCHS and Riverside who placed second, third, fourth and fifth; while Royal Valley, Riverside, Jeff West and ACCHS boys finished second, third, fourth and fifth behind Holton.

Holton led the way with 12 total first place finishes on the day led by a sweep of the relays by the Holton boys as the won the 4x100, 4x400 and 4x800 meter relays with times of 45.44, 3:47.64 and 9:34.66. Indie Allen posted a multi-gold day leaping to wins both the long and triple jump with leaps of 19'11 and 41'07, respectively. Three other first place finishes were earned on the track by the Holton boys as Spencer Baum sprinted to a win in the 200 meter dash (24.17), while Will Wright sprinted to the win in the 400 meter dash (53.17) and Riley Strader paced himself to a win in the 3200 meter run (11:39.64). In the girls side of competition four of the three first place finishes by the Wildcats came on the track as Kimmie Snepp won the 100 meter dash (12.67), Ashley Cook won the 200 meter dash (30.75) and the girls won the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 53.00. Alexis Garcia picked up the other win for the lady Wildcats, posting a leap of 4'02 to win the high jump.

Jeff West Tigers brought home nine gold medals on the day with three multi-event winners on the day. Both Makenzie Tucker and Mariah Murdie won multiple events in the girl’s competition, while Michael Majors won two events in the boy’s action. Tucker sprinted to the win in the 400 meter dash with a time of 64.05, while vaulting to the win in the pole vault with a vault of 9'00. Murdie took home first in the 100 meter hurdles behind a time of 16.67 and also won the triple jump with a leap of 31'11. For Majors he tossed his way to wins in the discus and shot put 142'07 and 46'03.50. Hunter Williams, Myranda Bahm and Makayla Greene all also earned a first place finish for the Tigers winning the boys javelin (130'10), girl’s long jump (13'08) and girl’s discus (97'08).

Royal Valley, ACCHS and Riverside all went home with five first place finishes on the day in individual events.

For the Panthers, Kate Hanson and Patrick Broxterman lead the way with a pair of gold medals each. Hanson tossed her way to wins in the shot up and javelin with tosses of 33'06.75 and 109'04, while Broxterman won the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 42.92 and leapt his way to a win in the high jump with a leap of 6'04. Macy Putnam notched the other first place finish for the Panthers winning the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 50.56.

It was the ACCHS lady Tigers picking up all five first place finishes on the day as the lady Tigers 4x400 and 4x800 meter relay teams both grabbed wins with times of 4:35.44 and 11:11.36. Madison Bissell and Beba Scholz who ran on the relay teams also won individual events as Bissell took home the title in the 800 and 1600 meter runs behind times of 2:32.86 and 5:52.74, while Scholz won the 3200 meter run posting a time of 13:14.81.

Riverside Cyclone boys registered all five of their first place finishes on the day as Cole Hinton and Mason McCall both won two events for the Cyclones. Hinton raced to wins in the 800 and 1600 meter runs behind times of 2:13.56 and 4:49.26, while McCall won the 110 meter hurdles (16.46) and the pole vault (10'06). Bryer Miller brought home the other gold for Riverside sprinting to the win in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.16.
