Hanover Boys Cruise Past Pretty Prairie in First Round of 1A-DI State Action

The Hanover Wildcats showcased why they are the number one team in the State and have been all season as they pounced on Pretty Prairie early in the opening round of the 1A-DI, cruising to the 83-37 win.

From the start of the game the Hanover Wildcats put no doubt in who was in control of the game as the Wildcats rained in eight three-pointers (8-13) in the first half and led 49-22 at the half, after outscoring Pretty Prairie 27-10 in the first quarter and 22-12 in the second frame. Hanover not only shot the ball well early posting a 54.5% mark from the floor in the first half but defense forced 12 first half turnovers. The offensive barrage continued in the third quarter by Hanover and Wildcats posted another big quarter outscoring Pretty Prairie 23-10 and went on to play the reserves the final few minutes of the third quarter and entire fourth quarter on the way to the 83-37 win.

Hanover finished 50.7% from the floor and 52.6% from three-point range, hitting 10 three's in the win, while notching 23 assists on 34 made buckets and on defense held Pretty Prairie to 35% shooting and forced 17 turnovers. The win pushes Hanover to 22-1 on the season, as 11 different guys scored in the contest and Will Bruna led the way with 16 points. Cody Rengstorf added 11 points, while Hunter Nicholson chipped in 10 points, grabbed five rebounds and had five assists.

The win assures the Wildcats a spot in the final four of Class 1A-DI as they look to make another run at a State and will play at 8:15pm in the Semifinals at White Auditorium on Friday against Hartford. (Other Semifinal - Doniphan West vs. Stockton)
