Latest KWCA Rankings (Feb. 3rd) -- 3-2-1A & 4A

Regionals just a little over two weeks away for wrestling in the State of Kansas, wrestlers are continuing to work towards the ultimate goal of making the State competition. The KWCA has released its latest set of rankings and 12 area individuals and two teams are ranked this week, with a few wrestlers falling of the polls or moving down in the rankings.

Class 3-2-1A continues to be highlighted for the area with a trio of number one ranked grapplers as Doniphan West junior, Garret Dunlap (160lbs), Troy senior, Tristan Speer (195lbs) and Marysville senior, Josh Nelson (170lbs) all continue to sit atop the rankings in their respective weight classes.

Nelson is joined in the rankings again this week by a pair of his teammates as junior, Chris Deters (126lbs) continues to be ranked fourth and sophomore, Jacob Mintzmyer (152lbs) moved up one spot to fourth this week. Marysville as a team remained fifth in the Top 10 team rankings for Class 3-2-1A.

Four other area wrestlers are ranked this week in 3-2-1A, also as Doniphan West junior, Kody Collins (182lbs) and ACCHS Tiger sophomore, Hunter Ostertag (120lbs) both check in again at fourth in their weight classes this week. Sabetha Bluejay senior, Jacob Leuthold (285lbs) comes in at second again this week after moving into that spot last week. Onaga Buffalo senior, Dustin Blow (195lbs) rejoins the rankings this week after falling out the past few weeks jumping in at fifth this week.

In Class 4A two area grapplers fall out of the rankings while another falls in the rankings and Holton as a team took a tumble in the rankings too. The Holton Wildcats ranked in the Top five all year fell to ninth in the team standings this week, falling five spots. Individually, Holton senior, Lucas Lovvorn (160lbs) and junior, Justin Rieschick (145lbs) both remain ranked first and second, respectively at their weight classes. But Holton senior, Mason Baum (170lbs) fell two spots to sixth just remaining in the rankings this week and is the only other Holton ranked with Lovvorn and Rieschick.

With Regionals on the horizon area grapplers will be looking to the final few regular season meets and tournaments to fine tune their skills to gear up for postseason action.
