The Nebraska State Cross Country meet was held today at the Kearney Country Club. Several area runners competed in Class C and Class D.
In Class C girls competition Syracuse finished 11th in the team standings with 166 points. For Class D girls Johnson County Central was 12th out of 16 teams competing with 181 points.
Individually Falls City junior Lainey Larson had the best finish with a time of 22:39 for a 35th place finish.
For Auburn Cierra Wynn ran 23:53.2 for 62nd and Lindsey Mertes, a senior started but did not finish the race.
Syracuse was led by Kimberly Lownan finished 40th in 22:53.2.
Kaylee Hartman was 59th in 23:53.2. Sydney Paden was 65th in 24:05.6 and Kayla Arnold was 76th in 26:13.2.
In Class D girls competition Aleisha McDonald a freshman from Johnson County Central was 34th in a time of 22:14.3, Angelica Wellman, a sophomore was 66th in 23:30.9, Annika McDonald a sophomore was 72nd in 23:37 and Diana Cruz, a freshman was 115th in 26:10.2.
In Class C boys action Syracuse finished third with 81 points. Milford was the Class C State title winner with 47 points, Columbus Scotus was second with 58 followed by Syracuse.
Keegan Pope led the Rocker runners with an 8th place finish in a time of 17:43.2.
Sophomore Zane Weiler was 28th, Lucas Wilkinson, a freshman was 34th, Peyton Harsin was was 53rd, Cody Pester was 54th and Riley Porter was 55th.
Falls City sophomore ran in his first state competition finishing in 38th place in a time of 18:51.9.
For the Class D boys Samuel Saldivar, a sophomore at Johnson County Central ran 28th in 18:13.3 and Pawnee City junior Alex Menninga was 39th in 18:32.4.
