Highland CC Sports Round-Up - Cross Country Teams Compete in El Dorado

The Highland men's and women's cross country teams continued their seasons on Monday in El Dorado as they competed in the Ollie Isom Invitational hosted by Butler Community College. 

The Highland men earned a seventh place team finish out of 14 teams in action, while the lady Scotties finished ninth as a team out of 10 teams. 

Jorge Guerrero paced the Highland men with a time of 29:20.82 to place 16th out of 111 runners. Former Riverside Cyclone, Cole Hinton posted a time of 30:54.51 to place 44th, while former Hiawatha Red Hawk, Brandy Houk with a time of 31:49.61 placed 53rd. Isaiah Smith finished 57th behind a time of 32:09.72, while former Riverside Cyclone, Tristan Hinton finished 60th with a time of 32:25.99. Jordan Adams, Zekarias Philipo and Jackson Beaver notched finishes of 67th, 69th and 83rd with times of 33:01.30, 33:06.74 and 34:18.00. 

The lady Scotties were led by Ivanna Uribe who finished with a time of 22:39.42 to place 34th out of 98 women runners, while Kaitlyn Slagle, Juliette Rios and Lakashia Willis posted times of 24:22.78, 24:34.01 and 24:41.87 to finish 60th, 65th and 66th. Katie Corrigan, Gisel Santiago and Casey Nelson were also in action for Highland racing to times of 25:02.56, 25:09.75 and 30:14.48 to place 71st, 73rd and 92nd. 

The Region VI/Jayhawk Championship competition looms next for the Scotties in cross country action as they are set for that competition on Saturday, October 29th in Hutchinson.
