B&B Improves to 2-0 with Impressive Win Over Frankfort
By Mike Smith

It was an important district and league matchup for the Baileyville-B&B Falcons and the Frankfort Wildcats on Friday night and for different reasons. Frankfort coming off a loss to start district play, did not want to put themselves in a 0-2 hole, while B&B wanted to stay undefeated on the season and improve to 2-0 a top of the district. With the teams meeting in Baileyville one thing had to give, and it would be the Frankfort Wildcats, as they fell to the B&B Falcons 50-0 with the game called at halftime.

The Falcons started out with the ball in the game and took it straight down the field behind a few runs, then soaring into the endzone on a 33-yard connection from quarterback, Dustin Rottinghaus to tight end, Cameron Haug. Rottinghaus finished the night early coming out in the second quarter, his final line was 7-13 for 69 yards a touchdown and interception. Haug finished with a game high 82 yards receiving on four receptions with the touchdown grab. B&B would go on to dominate the rest of the matchup cruising to a 36-0 first quarter lead.

Frankfort had turnovers and special teams mistakes that the Falcons continued to capitalize on throughout the game, leading to a multitude of B&B points on homecoming night. B&B, knowing Frankfort Wildcats, Lucas Adams and Calahan Brown are dangerous playmakers, decided to not kick the ball their way and that ended up in the recovery of a few onside kicks by the Falcons and short fields. B&B went on to rattle off three rushing touchdowns, two by Rottinghaus and one by Dustin Deters. While Rottinghaus passed the ball  well, he was also the Falcons leading rusher with 82 yards and the two rush touchdowns, as Dustin Deters tallied 24 yards and a TD.

The final score of the first quarter for the Falcons came on defense as Blake Deters snatched an Alex Surdez pass out of the air and took the interception back 50 yards for the touchdown. Frankfort Wildcat defense would stop B&B on a few drives to start the second quarter but it was the lack of offense that did Frankfort in as they struggled to move the ball.

Up 36-0 the Falcons offense was turned over to back-up quarterback, Dylan Schmitz and the Falcons after a few stops by Frankfort got the offense moving again and punched it in the endzone multiple times right before the half to end the game via mercy rule. The two touchdowns scored in the second quarter by the Falcons were both at the hands of Schmitz who scampered for a 29 yard TD and tossed a 18 yard TD pass to Tyler Deters, for the game ending score.

Schmitz as the back-up quarterback finished 4-5 for 52 yards TD and rushing score, while Tyler Deters had five receptions for 46 yards and TD.

While B&B put up 50 points in the game the story of the game was the Falcons defense forcing a few turnovers and holding the Wildcats to 42 total yards of offense and two first downs. With that performance the entire Falcons defense earned Community National Bank of Seneca and Sabetha "Player to Bank On" honors for the game.

With the win the number one ranked team in Eight-Man Division II , Baileyville-B&B Falcons improved to 6-0 on the season and 2-0 in district play, while Frankfort is now 3-2 on the season and 0-2 in district play having now lost two straight.
