It's the debut of a new weekly local sports talk show called "Pressbox Perspective" with Mike Smith posted weekly here on MSCSports.net every Thursday.

The weekly show breaks down all Northeast Kansas high school sports throughout the high school athletic year and will be 30 minutes to an hour in length each week. Mike keeps you up to date all the latest results in all the area high school sports, while also bring you interviews with area athletes, coaches from non-football and basketball sports and others.

Also look at how Northeast Kansas area athletes that have graduated and are playing at the college level are doing in their careers and possibly interview some of those athletes from time to time, also.

First episode of "Pressbox Perspective" includes a breakdown of all the fall sports in the area including football, volleyball, cross country, girls golf and girls tennis.

I look at the top football teams and talks high school football with the Publisher of Kansas Pregame football magazine, John Baetz. John talks about Holton, Centralia & B&B being the favorites to win State titles in their respective classifications, while also chatting about other area teams including Hiawatha and star player Peyton Newell. Wrapped up the football talk with my area athlete profile, as I chatted with Centralia Panther seniors, JT Rosine and Sam Steinlage about the upcoming football season.

After football, Mike breaks down the top volleyball teams coming into this year, looking at the 2013 Preseason poll that has been released. I also caught up with the coach of the 1A-Division II back-to-back State champs the B&B Falcons, Jessica Koch and we looked ahead to the volleyball season and talked about B&B 's goal of three-peating.

Cruising along in previewing all the fall sports, I talked about cross country and rundown the top area returners and look that 2013 Preseason poll. Potentially one of the top area programs for cross country this year could be Hiawatha and I caught up with their head coach, Mark Carter.

I wrapped up the show by taking a brief look at girls tennis and girls golf players and teams returning this year for area teams, while also looking at the college level of athletics for Highland CC and talk about a few other area athletes competing at the next level.
