A full slate of games were on tap this past weekend for area legion baseball teams but the weather had other plans in mind cancelling a few of the slated games.

Three NEK League teams participated in the Tristch tournament in Hiawatha with the only non-league team in the tournament Marysville winning it, after Sunday's action was cancelled due to weather. (full write-up on the Tritsch tournament -- click here)

On Saturday in non-tournament action Sabetha was scheduled to host Leavenworth for a double but Leavenworth had to forfiet both matchups as they didn't have enough players to field a team, which moved Sabetha to 16-6 on the season. Also on Saturday Holton had a slated non-league double header as they hosted Silver Lake and the shorthanded Holton squad dived into their junior legion roster to play the contests and walked away with 14-0 and 22-0 losses. With the pair of losses Holton is now 3-8 on the season.

Sunday, Holton was to play a league double header at Royal Valley and Frankfort to travel to Atchison for a double header but thanks to the weather both those double headers were postponded.

As the month of June ends the NEK League teams gear up for the next few weeks to prepare for the Zone touranment action late-July.
