Falls City Legion Blasts Past Hiawatha 11-0 in Five Innings

Looking for a better performance than the last time they played Falls City, Hiawatha headed to their place for a showdown on the diamond on Tuesday night, but the result was the same as the as the game at Noble Park a Falls City win in five innings.

Falls City started the scoring earlier pounding out the runs to plate five in the first to take the early 5-0 lead, then used back-to-back three run innings in the second and third to total 11 runs and earn the 11-0 win over Hiawatha.

It was all Blue Strom of Falls City in the contest from the start and throughout as they out-hit Hiawatha 12-1, with Derek Bippes pitching five scoreless innings for the win giving up a hit, walk and striking out eight. Bippes pitching performance was backed by and offensive performance from Falls City that saw nine of the 10 Blue Strom batters register a hit and every player get on base at least once in the five inning affair.

Lane Scheitel and Jordy Stoller packed the hot bats for Falls City as they combined for five hits, three runs scored and four RBI. Scheitel posted a 3-3 night scoring twice and tallying three RBI with a double, while Stoller went 2-2 with a runs scored, RBI and walk.

For Hiawatha in the loss Taylor Jacobsen registered the lone hit of the game going 1-2, while Baxter DeFore got on base via a walk as the only other base runner for Hiawatha in the contest.

With the loss Hiawatha falls to 3-7 on the season and gears up for a league game at Holton tonight at 8:00pm which will be broadcasted on 103.9 KNZA (click here to listen online). While Falls City continued to play well this season improving to 10-4 on the year.
