Trenten VanHoutan
|
VanHoutan exploded in Oskaloosa’s 68-33 win over ACCHS this past Friday. The junior guard finished the game with 37 points, 13 rebounds, six steals and three assists.
His performance earned him a game ball on this past week’s edition of the Community National Bank High School Scoreboard Show.
On the young season, he is averaging an impressive 18.3 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. Last year, VanHoutan averaged 14 points and six rebounds per game earning First Team All-NEKL honors. He is well on pace to make the All-League team again this year.
The Bears finished just 5-16 in the 2022-23 season. This year, they are just one win shy of matching their win total with a record of 4-3 so far and a league record of 3-3.
Eighth-year head coach Jeremy Rockhold credits a lot of the team’s success to the way Trenten is playing right now.
“Trenten this year has been a swiss army knife for us,” Rockhold said. “He's done everything, he leads in scoring, rebounding, assists and steals. He's been a good leader by coming in every day and working hard as well as putting in extra work to be better. Off the court he's an even better person! He's got a good sense of humor and gets along well with everyone.”
