If there is one staple in 8-man high school football in the state of Kansas it is death, taxes and the Hanover Wildcats winning state championships.
Saturday afternoon the Cats did what they do best, capturing the 8-man DII state championship in a 46-24 win over St. Francis.
For Hanover it was their fourth state championship in the past five seasons while head coach Matt Heuer won his sixth state title while pushing his record in championship games to 6-3 in 16 seasons.
In the championship victory the Cats got another big game from Jacob Jueneman who delivered another five-touchdown performance as he threw for 173 yards and four touchdowns while rushing for one more.
Emmitt Jueneman and Colin Jueneman each recorded two receiving touchdowns in the win while Emmitt finished with 111 yards on seven catches.
Hanover was more impressive defensively as they intercepted St. Francis four times with one each by Josh Zarybnicky, Emmitt Jueneman, Braelen Stallbaumer and Jacob Klipp who also finished with 15 tackles.
The Cats wrapped up a perfect 11-0 season on Saturday and won the school’s seventh state championship cementing Hanover as one of the top 8-man programs in the history of Kansas high school football.
