The Maur Hill-Mount Academy football team is off to one of the best starts in school history with the Ravens sitting at 5-0 and ranked fifth in Class 2A.

A major key to the success of the Ravens this season has been the play of senior Andrew Schwinn who is coming off rushing for 257 yards and three touchdowns in MH-MA’s 53-6 win over ACCHS last week.

Through five games Schwinn is up to 1,022 rushing yards with 15 touchdowns, averaging over 200 yards per game.

Those numbers put him second in the state rushing throughout all classes and 300 yards behind the leader.

Defensively at his linebacker spot he has been just as good if not better, as he has recorded 69 tackles, three tackles for loss and one interception.

Schwinn has recorded over 15 tackles twice this season which includes and 18-tackle effort in a 40-6 win over Nickerson.

In his career, Schwinn has rushed for over 2,000 yards and 32 touchdowns after rushing for 699 yards and 11 scores a year ago.

Schwinn will look to continue his strong play and lead the Ravens to a district title as MH-MA has a tough test coming up Friday night on the road at defending state champion Nemaha Central with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. and live coverage on 92.1 KMZA.
