For the past several seasons the Maur Hill-Mount Academy boys’ basketball team has dominated the Northeast Kansas League and has earned back-to-back trip to the Class 3A State Tournament finishing fourth two years ago and last year falling in the opening round.
A staple in the program the past four years has been senior Abe Siebenmorgen who Friday night delivered the game of his career in the Ravens 58-36 win over Oskaloosa pouring in 34 points while pulling down 15 rebounds.
Siebenmorgen has started for the Ravens the past three seasons and on the year is leading the team in scoring at 13.9 points per game while shooting 55.4 percent from the floor and 67 percent from the free throw line.
In the Ravens’ state tournament run last year he averaged 12 points per game while pulling down nearly eight rebounds per game.
Along with being a strong presence on the basketball floor Siebenmorgen is an ever more decorated football player earning an all-state selection this past season earning him a scholarship at Benedictine College to continue his sporting career.
He was also just recently added to the Kansas Shrine Bowl Game roster which features the top seniors in the state.
Siebenmorgen has the Ravens in firm control of third straight Northeast Kansas League with a 10-1 league record including an 11-4 overall record and will look to make another deep postseason run with five games remaining in the regular season.
