So far to begin the 2019-20 high school basketball season the Frankfort boys have experienced highs and lows as the Wildcats are off to a 4-3 start.
The Wildcats had lost three straight before the holiday break but in the first games of 2020 have been outstanding with wins over Hanover and Doniphan West with junior Aiden Gerstner leading the way.
After scoring just eight total points through the first three games of the year Gerstner has turned it on of late scoring 18 points on six 3-pointers in a 54-21 win over Doniphan West Tuesday night.
In Frankfort’s last four games Gerster has scored 14, 21, 19 and 18 points and in those four games has combined to knock down 19 3-pointers upping his season average to 11 points per game.
Gerstner is a three-sport athlete for the Wildcats and this past fall led the Cats to an 8-2 record on the football field while last spring helped Frankfort capture a golf state championship while placing fourth individually at the state meet.
He will look to continue to lead the Frankfort boys in the right direction and have a strong showing in the Twin Valley League tournament coming up next week after hosting Wetmore on Tuesday night.
