The 2018 sports season was one for the history books at Sabetha High School with the Bluejays winning state championships in football, baseball, golf and even an individual state wrestling championship.
This season the Bluejays have picked up right where they left off, winning a state football championship for the second straight year and currently have the baseball and golf teams in position to do the same thing.
Last week the Sabetha golf team captured their home invitational and it was senior Jesse Burger leading the way as he captured the individual title shooting a 79.
He has shot under 80 in all of the Bluejays tournaments so far this season, with his low round being a 77 this season at the Wamego Invitational.
He has a career low round of 70 which came his sophomore year at Seneca, and including last year has shot over 80 just one time the past two seasons.
Burger placed fifth at the 3A state tournament last season in Seneca shooting a 76, which helped the Bluejays win the state title by just two strokes.
Most recently he took first Monday at the Sabetha quad, as he won by three strokes shooting a 41.
Burger will look to continue his strong senior campaign moving forward and try to lead the Bluejays to a second consecutive state tournament berth and bring another championship back to ‘Title Town’.
