The 2019 softball season could not be off to a better start for the Holton Lady Cats who have been outstanding so far posting a record of 7-1 overall and a record of 6-0 in the Big 7 League.
Last week the Lady Cats rolled right along with a sweep of Royal Valley, and it was junior Bailey Flewelling leading the way with a perfect performance at the plate.
In game one she went 2-for-2 with three runs scored, a home run, a walk and two RBI’s which came in an 18-3 Holton victory. She followed that up with another 2-for-2 outing in the second game, recording two more RBI’s, two runs scored, two doubles and a walk in a 14-0 win.
On the season Flewelling has hit for a .500 average with 12 hits which is second on the team, has 11 runs batted in which is tied for first on the team and three home runs which is also tied for the team lead.
Last season she was named a first team all-state infielder, which also earned her on to the all-league first team as well after hitting .506 with seven home runs and helping Holton to a third place state finish in 4AD2.
Flewelling and the Lady Cats continued their strong start Monday night with a sweep of Jeff West and will look to continue to roll along on the year with hopes of reaching the 3A state tournament later this season.
