Shane Quinlan

Perry Lecompton Kaw boy’s track and field team captured the Big Seven League title and several top notch performances led the way including junior, Shane Quinlan.

Quinlan captured a pair of individual League titles and helped two of the three Kaw relay teams also win League titles, too. Racing to times of 22.49 and 50.95 Quinlan won the 200 and 400 meter dashes at the Big Seven meet. Shane was also part of the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relay teams that captured League titles behind times of 43.12 and 3:28.88.

Over the course of the track and field season Quinlan has competed in the 100, 200 and 400 meter dashes, the relays and long jump. At the Wellsville Invite the Kaw junior won the 200 and 400 meter dashes and also helped the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relay teams take first, while earlier in the season he took third in the 100 meter dash and fourth in the long jump and the Perry Lecompton Relays and the Big Seven Quad at Perry.

He has qualified for State the last two years competing in the 200 and 400 meter dashes and the 4x100 meter relay last year and the with the 4x100 meter relay team two years ago.

Quinlan looks to use his strong performances recently to compete at the Class 3A Regionals and earn a spot at the State meet in Wichita.
