Centralia Panthers Volleyball Team

Winning pedigree has been instilled in the sports programs at Centralia high school and that can definitely be seen in the volleyball program. The lady Panthers defended their Class 1A-DI State title this year, claiming at State title for the fourth time in the last five years and 14th time in school history.
Making the schools 27th trip to the State volleyball tournament the Panthers were on the prowl yet again and spiked through the competition. In pool play Centralia topped Lebo (25-15, 25-18), beat Twin Valley League rival Hanover (25-18, 25-10) and finished pool play by taking down Pretty Prairie (25-14, 25-21). Moving into the Semifinals for the seventh straight year the Panthers took on Sylvan-Lucas and won in straight sets (25-11, 25-14) to get into the Championship match. South Central stood in the way of Centralia for another State title and after a first set win the Panthers trailed most of the second set down by as many as nine but stormed back and took the second set (25-17, 26-24) to win the 1A-DI State title.
The Panthers put together another remarkable season winning another TVL tournament title, while also winning the Wabaunsee, Hiawatha and Valley Falls tournaments and also shared the regular season TVL crown. Over the course of the year the Panthers played 87 sets and loss just three and capped the year with a record of 43-1.
Several Centralia players have earned postseason honors too as four gals were selected All-State Tournament team and five gals earned All-TVL honors.
Centralia punctuated another spectacular volleyball season with a State title and added to a crowded trophy case in the process.
