It’s been a solid season thus far for the Nemaha Valley Lady Raiders as they sit a 6-3, through the first nine games of the season, as all three losses came on the road and two were by single digits. While it was perhaps expected that the Lady Raiders would be a top team in the Big Seven League this year, perhaps what wasn’t expected was the emergence of sophomore, Rachel Baumgartner who developed into a scorer for the Lady Raiders.

The sophomore has provided a spark all season for the Raiders and has led the team in scoring in all four games since the holiday break, including the two Raider wins last week over Riverside and Holton.

Baumgartner started the week off last week with a 13 point showing against Riverside in a 49-12 win as the Raiders lead 32-5 at the half that game and Rachel lead the team in scoring. The sophomore followed that performance up with an 11 point showing against Holton in a big league win at home against a top league team for the past years. Raiders dispatched Holton 37-34 in a battle, as Baumgartner provided her spark off the bench to lead Nemaha Valley in scoring on the night with her 11 points.

On the season Baumgartner leads the team in scoring with 8.7 ppg and adds 5 rpg and 1 spg to her stat line this season thus far.
