Gaven Schumann

Former Sabetha Bluejay, Gaven Schumann continued his basketball career after high school by staying a Bluejay and attending Tabor College and after putting in plenty of work the past few years now in his senior campaign Schumann has made a solid impact on the team this year.
Schumann finished the regular season strong for Tabor notching double figures in three of the final four games of the regular season. Against Ottawa in the regular season finale he notched 10 points and added six rebounds and four steals. He posted a season best 16 points against Sterling going 6-8 from the floor and added five rebounds and two blocks. Also during the four game stretch to end the season Tabor played Oklahoma Wesleyan and Kansas Wesleyan games in which the form Sabetha Bluejay posted nine points on 7-10 from the free throw line and five rebounds and 13 points with nine rebounds, four steals and two blocks, respectively. Tabor won three of those four contests with lone loss coming to Kansas Wesleyan on the road by just five points as they beat Oklahoma Wesleyan in Overtime and won a tough single digit game against Sterling.
Gaven played at the varsity level only six games his sophomore year and seven is junior year at Tabor but this year has played in 25 of the teams 28 games and started 12 contests. Schumann on the season is averaging 5.2 points and 3.6 rebounds per game and has recorded 22 assists, 23 steals and 18 blocks this year.
While at Sabetha Schumann helped the Sabetha boys basketball team to plenty of success including a 13-0 performance in the Big Seven his senior year helping the team win the League title. Schumann was named first team All-Big Seven his senior year and earned All-League honors other years and in other sports as he was a multi-sports athlete.
The Tabor Bluejays sit at 14-14 on the season and 13-9 in the KCAC and look to make a run in the KCAC tournament as they take on Oklahoma Wesleyan Friday, February 23rd in the KCAC Tournament Quarterfinals.
