Brock Headed Back to Mississippi State
Matt Brock

Holton alumnus Matt Brock is bringing his college football coaching career full circle with a return to Mississippi State. After spending the 2024 season as the defensive coordinator at UConn, Brock has been named linebackers coach and co-defensive coordinator for the Bulldogs.

Brock’s defense at UConn was among the nation’s best, ranking eighth nationally in total sacks and fifth in sacks per game. His return to Starkville follows a successful prior stint with Mississippi State, where he served as defensive coordinator in 2023 after coaching linebackers during the 2022 season.

Brock began his coaching career in 2011 as a graduate assistant at Baker, later moving on to Texas Tech and making additional stops at Bowling Green and Washington State along the way.

A standout linebacker during his playing days at Baker, Brock recorded 277 career tackles and earned all-conference honors in both 2009 and 2010.
