Madsen Leads Spires to 3rd Place in Cross Country National Championships

Kate Madsen, formerly a Hiawatha Redhawk, had a successful junior season at the University of Saint Mary.

She was named an All-American by the United States Track & Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association after finishing 22nd in the NAIA National Championships in Vancouver, WA on Friday, November 17th. Kate ran for the 6K in 22:19 and helped the Spires finish third as a team.

The former Redhawk was an All-American last year in her sophomore season for Indoor Track & Field after finishing sixth in the 5000m race in the NAIA National Championships in Brookings, SD with a time of 17:44.

Kate is a double-major in Biology and English and maintains a 4.0 GPA.
