By Mike Smith

With winter sports season and wrestling in the books and behind us, a pair of area senior wrestlers got the chance to hit the mat for another time to showcase their wrestling skills against some of the best across the state of Kansas.

The Kansas Senior Classic, a yearly event that features senior high school wrestlers from across the state took place last night at the Kansas Expocentre with two area grapplers competing in the competition. Holton Wildcat, Hunter Price and Pleasant Ridge Ram, Jared Johnson both put on the tights another time to showcase their wrestling talents. While, Holton Wildcat wrestling coach, Cullen Jackson served as a coach of the small school team (4A & 3-2-1A schools).

Wrestling showcase was set up to where it was big schools versus small schools from across the state of Kansas, which meant 6A and 5A schools teamed up to take on 4A & 3-2-1A school wrestlers.

Holton Wildcat, Price competed at the 120lb weight same class in which he won the Class 4A state title this season going 4-0 at state and winning 40 plus matches this season. Price's opponent was Quinton Harrison of Newton. Hunter gave Harrison an great dual but ultimately fell in the matchup with a 4-2 decision final.

Pleasant Ridge's, Jared Johnson competed at the 170lb weight class, the weight class he finished second place in, in Class 3-2-1A this past year suffering his only loss of the year in the title bout. Johnson capped off his season with 40 plus wins on the year and took on Topeka Seaman's, Bryant Guillen in the Kansas Senior Classic. It was a tough bout but Guillen topped Johnson with a 5-1 decision.

Both Price and Johnson end their high school wrestling careers well decorated and a pair of the best wrestlers over the past few years in Northeast Kansas and the state of Kansas.
