The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced that 60 Division I Men's Basketball student-athletes have been named 2012-13 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes.

Peter Knudsen (Vanloese, Denmark) and Brett Pierce (St. Joseph, Mo.), members of Peru State's Bobcat basketball team, were among the honorees.

Knudsen, an accounting major, transferred from Broome Community College in New York in the fall of 2011.  Pierce, a K-12 physical education and sports management and exercise science major, graduated from Mid-Buchanan High School and has been a member of the team for three years.

“Peter and Brett have both been integral parts of the men's basketball program for the past couple of years,” said Bobcat men's head coach Troy Katen.  Katen added, “Not only have they done well in the classroom and on the court, Peter and Brett have participated in the men's basketball teams community service projects and are also involved on campus.”
