The Riverside baseball team opened up their regional tournament in Sabetha on Friday afternoon with a 12-2 win against Royal Valley.
The Cyclones (16-5) wasted little time getting on the board in the first inning thanks to an RBI double by Luke Benitz.
They would score three runs in the second inning highlighted by an RBI double by Parker Foley and an RBI groundout by Chase Hewins.
Riverside would put the game away with four runs in the fourth and four in the fifth to win the game via the run rule.
Mason Hayes had two hits and two RBI's, Benitz reached base three times and drove in two, Gavin Schoenfelder had two hits and an RBI, and Foley reached base in all three of his at-bats and scored twice.
Keagan Hughes got the start and pitched all five innings with six strikeouts and reached base twice.
The Panthers (0-21) were held to one hit until the fifth inning before scoring two runs on two hits. Gavin Akin had an RBI single and Jaxson Stevens drove in a run on a groundout.
Riverside will face Marysville in the semifinals on Wednesday (5/21) at 2:00 PM in Sabetha. The Bulldogs defeated Maur Hill-Mount Academy in the quarterfinals 16-5.
