Cochran Punches Out 16 in Jackson Heights' Win vs. Horton

The Jackson Heights softball team opened play at the Valley Falls In-Season tournament on Friday, April 11 with a 7-0 win against the Horton Chargers. 

Junior Layla Cochran led the charge for the Cobras inside the circle as she pitched a complete game shutout going seven innings, allowing just three hits with 16 strikeouts. 

Cochran struck out the side in the first two innings and then would strike out two batters in each inning for the rest of the game. 

The Cobras scored two runs in the first inning, one in the fourth inning, two in the fifth inning, and two more in the sixth inning. 

Jennifer Mellies finished with two hits and four RBI's, Taylor Bosley reached base three times and scored three runs, and Gracie Cowsert reached base four times including a double. 

Cochran drew four walks in her four at-bats and scored two runs and added a stolen base.
