Congratulation to Holton girls basketball Coach Jon Holliday who won his 400th career game on Friday night in a 40-31 victory at Perry Lecompton.  Coach Holliday is in his 22nd season at Holton girls coach, which amazingly equates to an average of 18 wins per season.   With only 110 total losses in 22 years, Coach Holliday has a winning percentage of nearly 79 percent.     

Under Coach Holliday's tutelage, the Lady Wildcats have won 111 consecutive games in the Big 7 and have a chance Tuesday in Sabetha, to wrap up an 8th straight undefeated League Title.  Click to Listen Live  

Holton's girls have advanced to the Class 4A State Tournament the past six years and got their undefeated each of the last four seasons.  Coach Holliday guided the Holton girls to a initial state championship in 1994, then won it all again (undefeated) in 2011.  Last year, the team went 25-1, losing only in the title game (34-27 to McPherson), which snapped a 51-game winning streak.  The team is 183-11 the past 8 years and has won 122 of their last 123 games played outside the state tourney in Salina.

As most great coaches would say, they have a lot of great athletes and a strong support staff.  During this great run, Coach Holliday has been assisted by Dennis Tegethoff, who has 27 years coaching experience with 174 wins as a varsity head coach in 14 seasons, and Kurt Haussler, who has 203 varsity wins in 14 seasons at the helm.
