The Jackson Heights softball team has had a really good start to their program in 2023 and they added to it last week against Olpe.
The Cobras swept Olpe with wins of 14-0 and 18-5. They've won five of their last six games with the lone loss against #1 ranked McLouth.
Freshman Layla Cochran led the charge in the 14-0 win over Olpe throwing a complete game shutout which marked the first time that has happened in school history.
The Cobras success could land them the #2 seed in the upcoming 2-1A Regional Tournament hosted by Wabaunsee next week.
Jackson Heights added softball and baseball to their athletic programs after board members unanimously approved to add them both to competition last year.
