Nixon and Gottula honored by Nebraska Coaches Association

(KLZA / KTNC)-- The Nebraska Coaches Association hosted their annual Multi-Sport Clinic this week in Lincoln kicking off with the 54th annual NCA Awards Banquet Sunday at the Great Hall at the Old Lincoln Train Station.

During the banquet coaches that led their teams to state titles in various sports during the 2021-22 school year were honored including Falls City Sacred Heart volleyball Coach Emma Ebel and Girls basketball Coach Luke Santo.

The 2021-22 Media Person of the Year was presented to John Nixon and Randy Gottula, the lead sports announcers for SUNNY 101.3 Radio and KTNC Radio in Falls City.

Letters of nomination for them from Falls City High School Athletic Director Don Hogue and Sacred Heart Chief Administrative Officer and Athletic Director Doug Goltz.

Also honored during the banquet was recently retired Auburn High School Principal Marty Hughes for 40 years of service to high school athletics and Matt Uher the Athletic Director at Lincoln Northeast for 25 years of service. Uher previously served as Activities Director at Tri County and was the High School Head Football Coach for the Falls City Tigers.

During the week, Sacred Heart Boys Basketball Coach Doug Goltz was honore for being named the NHSACA National Coach of the Year in Boys Basketball.

Monday night, Goltz was the Head Coach of the Red Squad that won the annul Nebraska Coaches Association boys All-Star Game made up of recently graduated seniors from across Nebraska.
