The Troy baseball team enjoyed the opportunity Tuesday afternoon to play an exhibition game at Kauffman Stadium and despite playing well in stretches the Trojans made too many mistakes in a 7-3 loss to Heritage Christian.

Troy got down early giving up an RBI-single to the Chargers Trey Moran and had a chance to limit the damage to just that one run but a dropped pop up on the infield allowed two more runs to score giving Heritage Christian a 3-0 run out of the gates.

The Chargers tacked on another run in the second thanks to a pair of walks and a wild pitch to lead 4-0 which held until the fifth inning.

In the fifth Troy opened the inning with their first run of the game with Brayden Hill scoring on an error, but Heritage Christian responded with three more runs in the bottom of the inning thanks to three walks and two hits in the inning to take a 7-1 lead.

That 6-run advantage held to the seventh when Troy scored two on RBIs from Griffin Weber and Austin Grable, but that is all the Trojans could get falling by the 7-3 final.

Mistakes was the deciding factor on Wednesday as Troy committed two fielding errors and three baserunning blunders while allowing seven walks to Charger hitters.

The Trojans finished the day with four hits including one each from Griffin Weber, Preston Christenson, Brayden Hamilton and Seth Judd while Brayden Hill scored twice.

Troy is now 0-5 on the year with the loss and will next be in action Thursday at McLouth.
