2021 Holton Invitational – Results

The 2021 high school track season opened Tuesday night as area teams were in action at the Holton Invitational, and it was the host Wildcats who claimed both the girls and boys team titles.

On the girl’s side the Lady Cats claimed first place behind three first place finished led by Saydee Tanking who won the discus and javelin while Macey Gross claimed first in the high jump.

Hiawatha finished third as a team despite having six first place finishers as Brenna Diller won the 100-meter dash, Maizie Hageman the 400-meter run, Kate Madsen the 1600 and 3200-meter runs, Claire Geiger the 100-meter hurdles, Ashlynn Henry the shot put and the 4 by 100-meter relay team of Claire Geiger, Brenna Diller, Emma Bigham and Maizie Hageman.

Jackson Heights added a fifth-place team finish with one gold medal winner as Kanyon Olberding won the long jump while Amaya Marlatt took second in the javelin, Dawson Cochren in the shot put, and Annie Allen in the 1600-meter run.

On the boy’s side Holton captured the team title behind five event winners as Kale Purcell won the 110-meter hurdles, Canon Karn the triple jump along with javelin and the 4 by 100 and 4 by 400-meter relay teams also taking first.

Jackson Heights finished just behind Holton in the team standings and added five first place finishes of their own led by Daniel Little who won the 800, 1600, and 3200-meter runs while Taylor Wamego won the shot put and Jason Bosley the high jump.

Hiawatha added a pair of first place finishes as Riley Gibbs won the 400-meter run while the 4 by 800-meter relay team also claimed gold.

Valley Falls rounded out area first place finishers as freshman Zac Evans won the 100-meter dash.
