Hiawatha Redhawk, Peyton Newell Named to 2012 MaxPreps Junior All-American Team

The accolades continue to compile, and rightfully so, for a guy that has developed into one of the top high school defensive lineman in Kansas and getting national recognition for his great play on the football field and his physical attributes. That gentlemen is Hiawatha Redhawk junior defensive lineman, Peyton Newell who recently was named to the 2012 MaxPreps Junior All-American team which bills him as one of the top defensive lineman across the nation.

Peyton was a integral part of the Hiawatha's success this season on the football field and a force this season for the Redhawks. Newell registered 79 total tackles, 10 sacks and 5 forced fumbles on the season on his way to helping the Redhawks to an 8-3 record and their first playoff win since 2001.  They beat Nemaha Valley in the first round of the Class 3A playoffs this past season.

Newell dominated many on the field this season and displayed his performances for many also, as Fox Sports took in his stellar performance against Royal Valley in a 44-6 Hiawatha win. His great performance on the field and his psychical attributes of 6'3, 270lbs have caught the eye of many not only in the state of Kansas but across the nation as Peyton currently has 21 Division I scholarship offers as a junior, which ranks as the third most of any defensive lineman or end in the country. He currently holds offers from: UCLA, TCU, Iowa, Iowa State, Illinois, Baylor, Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas State, Kansas, Purdue, South Carolina, Tulsa, California, Oklahoma State, Duke, Northwestern, NC State, Colorado, Arizona State and West Virginia.

Peyton Newell, has been a dominate force on the football field and while all the accolades are deserved and wherever he may decided to play collegiate football, one thing is for sure, we get to see the junior,  for the Hiawatha Redhawks one more season next year.
