Area Girls Qualify for Regional Wrestling

Postseason wrestling got underway Friday night with area girls competing in district tournaments and several punched tickets to regionals next week.

In Division two the Holton Wildcats are sending four girls to regionals after Piper Robinson took first at 109 pounds while Macey Gross was first at 126, Gracie Gallagher second at 138 and Madeline Montgomery third at 155.

Sabetha added five more girls to regionals led by three second place finishes with Abbey Gugelman second at 143, Katelyn Poe at 191 and Kylie Meredith at 235. Irish Rokey also finished third at 132 pounds while Sammi Gutkneckt was fourth to each move on to regionals.

The ACCHS Tigers will be bringing three girls to regionals next week after Tannah Forbes won at 191 pounds while Hannah Simmers was second at 155 and Kayla Brown third at 138.

Atchison added a second place finish from Carissa Smith at 170 pounds and a fourth from Kate Servaes at 132, while Royal Valley got a first place finish from Maya Ogden at 138 pounds to qualify for regionals.

Out of district six Jeff West will be sending two girls to regionals as Tamberlynn Pulsipher took third at 120 pounds along with Jada Anderson at 143.

Oskaloosa wraps up girls regional qualifiers with Allison King taking the top spot at 155 pounds.

Next up is the regional meet Saturday, Feb. 13 with all qualifiers listed above set to compete at Rossville with the top four finishers at regionals qualifying for the sub-state meet in two weeks.
